Giunti Gruppo Editoriale (GIUNTI), is the Italian leader in the educational publishing sector which ranks among its authors illustrious names in the world of contemporary culture (e.g. Le Goff, Vlad, Bernstein, Rubbia, Rita Levi Montalcini, Calvesi, Lavin, Argan, Dulbecco, Hodgkin, Muti) and Prof. A. Ruberti, previous EEC Research Commissioner, as Group President.

GIUNTI has headquarters in Florence Italy and its own nation-wide distribution network (over 240 agents, 8250 regularly supplied bookshops, 25 specialised companies, ranging from editorial planning to the packaging of books and periodicals, 5000 catalogued titles available with 450 average new titles per year). The Group also owns more than 120 bookstores in the North Eastern part of Italy. The GIUNTI Group actually accounts for 600 employees, more than 180 million EUROs consolidated turnover with major shares in 25 companies covering all publishing issues, from copyright clearance to printing and distribution. Some companies cover specific content sectors, such as psychological tests publishing or educational information services. The GIUNTI Group is also part (one of the three co-ordinators) of the Consortium (TRIO) managing all SME teletraining activities for the Tuscany region in Italy and is managing the network of bookstores and ticket offices in all the Museums of the Region. After a thorough analysis about the evolution of traditional publishing towards digital means, the GIUNTI, first in Italy, has set up in 1992 digital publishing branches in Milan, Florence, Genoa, Varese, Tortona. In 1994 GIUNTI acquired major shares in Interactive Lab S.r.l., one of the first established (1988) and mostly active interactive multimedia software design and development facilities in Italy and Europe. From 1994 Interactive Lab has designed and developed more than 100 applications for main Industries, SMEs and Public Bodies in Europe.

Giorgio Da Bormida

Giorgio is the EC Projects Manager of Interactive Lab. In 1995 he joined an ESNG research group of the University of Genoa, carrying out R&D activity on educational networked multimedia systems and being the ARIADNE project Users Group Manager. From 1995, with Hewlett-Packard Italy's support, he has been working in the field of distance learning also managing the Distributed Learning Environments project of the Italian Ministry of University and Research. In 1997, after being an official consultant in the multimedia sector of the Scientific and Technological Park of Liguria Region, Da Bormida joined Interactive Lab as EC Projects Manager with the responsibility to manage Company's European activities and relevant national projects. Since 1998 he is a technical evaluator of the EC, supports the management of PLUS and WEBS-Surg, he is project manager of EC ARIADNE II, national projects VIRARTIS and TRIO. He is a member of IEEE and ISOC, is the author of more than 25 papers in international journals or conference proceedings

Fabrizio Cardinali

Fabrizio is the General Manager of Interactive Lab. After being Multimedia and Artificial Intelligence Head of Unit in Genova Ricerche (IRI Group), Hay Consulting Technologies (Hay Group) and Genova Innovazione (an engineering company), Fabrizio Cardinali has managed GIUNTI Ilabs over the last ten years, leading its activities and experiences as Head of Unit first and then as General Manager. Cardinali has also been project manager for GIUNTI Ilabs in several relevant national projects (e.g. VIRARTIS), EC Training & Education projects (such as BreakIT, WEBS and TEST), EC software R&D (e.g. IMDEX) and EC services (e.g. MERIT, Language Engineering WEBCD, PLUS)
